Sierra Homes has enjoyed more than 18 successful years in the home construction business. Husband/wife team of Jon and Sandy Eshelman own and operate Sierra Homes with the philosophy that no two clients want the exact same features in the home of their choice. According to Sandy and Jon, "The builder you choose should be willing not just to listen to, but to accommodate your needs, give you personal attention, and treat your new home as if it were their own."

Sierra first began building in the Perry Hall community of Oakhurst back in 1990. They went on to build in several prestigious communities such as The Fields at Seminary II, Longfield Estates I and II, Northwind Estates, Brewer's Landing, Wolf Meadows, Glen Angus, and Autumn Ridge, as well as dozens of sites scattered throughout Baltimore and Harford counties. Their concentration during the last few years has been on custom building, based on the customer's specifications and needs. Sierra specializes in locating home sites for its customers to determine feasibility for building, sometimes saving the customer thousands of dollars, or from making costly errors.

One of the keys to Sierra's success is the substantial list of features which are offered as standard. Brick fronts, 9' Ceilings on the First Floor, Poured Wall Foundations, and Luxury Master Baths are the standard here, not the exception. Other standard features are the high-efficiency heating units, Low-e double-hung windows and Two-tone painting. Brand-name products such as Moen, Corian, Aristokraft, GE, Jacuzzi, and Therma-Tru are marks of quality you will be likely to find in a Sierra Home. Using only high quality materials and excellent workmanship, the company has voluntarily built its homes in accordance with the NAHB Residential Construction Performance Guidelines for many years, prior to this becoming mandatory.

Jon Eshelman, the president of Sierra, brings over 22 years of hands-on experience within the construction industry. Jon may wear a suit and tie on the front page of this site, but don't expect it in the field -- he works side by side with his contractors day in and day out. Homeowners have come to realize Jon's willingness to do whatever it takes for each home to meet and exceed his high personal standards in a Sierra home. This commitment and attention to detail is part of what sets them apart from other builders. Sandy Eshelman, vice-president, represents the third generation of home builders in her family. Responsible for all administrative aspects of the company, she has many years of experience in the home building and land development industries. Her strong commitment to designing new floorplans and new products is a key factor.

One very important aspect of Jon and Sandy's success is surrounding themselves with a knowledgeable, experienced team of professionals. Laurie Brunink, a 20-year veteran in the real estate industry, is a New Sierra Home Specialist, and Off-site Custom Home Division Manager. Customers are quick to compliment Laurie on her professionalism, friendliness, and willingness to spend time necessary to make each homeowner feel right at home, and comfortable with their purchase. Carol Delay, their New Home Specialist and Community Sales Manager, brings many valuable skills to Sierra's team. Her wealth of experience, patience and attention to detail are qualities appreciated by customers and team members alike. Joe Sauter, Sierra's Baltimore Division Supervisor, is a real asset to the company. His no-nonsense approach and 20-plus years of hands-on experience ensure that the construction process goes as smoothly as possible. Other important members of our team are Richard Drury, punch-out technician and Accounting Manager Donna Henkleman and Executive Assistant Martha Knight. Those are the helpful, friendly faces which help to maintain the company's ability to run efficiently. Our Service Manager, Melanie Sperl is on hand to ensure excellent customer service for settlement.

Sierra's future plans include continuing to build Luxury Custom homes and Semi-Custom Homes, both in communities and on their customer's homesites.

Our primary goal remains assisting our clients in creating the perfect home for their family's needs, in any price range. Counties which Sierra has expanded operations to are Anne Arundel and Queen Anne's counties.
